Tasmanian energy minister to quit politics

Tasmanian Energy Minister Matthew Groom has announced he will not recontest his seat at the next state election.

Tasmania's Energy Minister Matthew Groom is leaving politics.

Mr Groom, who is also the state's acting attorney-general and growth minister, says he will not seek re-election in the seat of Denison at the next election to spend more time with his young family.

"I do feel conflicted. I love this job," he said in a statement on Saturday.
