A revitalised David Taylor could be an "unstoppable force" for Canberra, Brisbane skipper Darius Boyd says.
Boyd just hopes his former Broncos teammate doesn't reach his potential in Brisbane's NRL clash with the Raiders at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night.
Boyd emerged from well-documented personal issues to become Broncos captain in 2017 and the Brisbane fullback believes the stage is set for Taylor to complete his own transformation after snapping up an NRL lifeline from Canberra.
"I am sure that time out of the game will help him appreciate the game itself a bit more and we might see a better stint from him this time hopefully," Boyd said.
"When Dave is at his best he is an unstoppable force. Hopefully that is not this weekend."
Taylor, 28, made his NRL return for Canberra - his fifth club in 11 years - in the 46-6 round-three romp over Wests Tigers last weekend.
He kept his spot in the Raiders 17 to line up against his old club on Friday night after amassing 103m in a 36-minute bench stint against the Tigers.
"It is good to see Dave back," said Boyd, who began his Broncos career with Taylor in 2006.
"He's got all the talent in the world. It's just about his process and putting it together week-in, week-out."
The NRL banned Taylor from the first two rounds when they registered his contract this month after the forward last November pleaded guilty to two counts of cocaine possession while with Gold Coast Titans in 2014.
He escaped conviction for his offence and was fined $1000.
The Raiders gave Taylor another chance after the ex-Test forward was left in limbo when cut by UK club Catalans last October with a year left on his contract.
He snapped up a 'train and trial' pre-season chance at the Raiders and signed a one-year deal, after earning approval from the NRL integrity unit.
"It's been a tough road for him," said Brisbane forward Josh McGuire, who played with Taylor at the Broncos in 2009.
"But it's good to see him come out the other side.
"I am sure he will come my way during the game - hopefully he doesn't run at me too much."
