A dentist has tested positive to tuberculosis at a Sydney hospital, the NSW health authority says.

The Sydney Dental Hospital was notified of the disease on October 19, a week after the woman went on sick leave, NSW Health said on Friday.

Almost 30 staff, as well as 47 patients who had close contact with the employee, will be screened but the risk of others contracting the illness is low.
