The foursome of Olivia Bontempelli, Rosie Fadljevic, Mikhaela Donnelly and Hannah Kaser battled back from a 20-9 deficit at halftime to draw within three points - 24-21 - with 1:25 left on the clock at the Scape Youth Space.
"It was a good effort and we are happy with a silver medal and we have beaten some really good teams this week," Australian coach Kristy Flores told AAP.
"We just made a couple of errors in our game plan, that hurt us defensively and that we compounded by in inability to score in the first half they just kept making their shots."
There was no lack of effort from the Australia girls though as three point plays from Kaser and captain Bontempelli, who was once again outstanding, kept them in the game.
Running for a combined Oceania team in the men's medley relay at Bishan Stadium, Nick Hough, in the 300m leg and Raheen Williams, in the 400m leg, won bronze, finishing in 1:52:71, behind the Americas and Europe.
The undefeated men's hockey team won their last qualifying game 9-0 against Chile at the Seng Kang Hockey Stadium and will face either Belgium or Pakistan in the gold medal match.
