Andrew Bogut believes two games between Team USA and the Boomers will draw the biggest names in basketball to Australia and lead to growth in the NBL.
The Australian side is set to take on the Americans in Melbourne in 2019 in the lead up to the Tokyo Olympics.
Bogut told SEN Breakfast on Thursday players in the US were excited about the trip down under.
"From what I've heard pretty much everyone has put their hands up barring injury," Bogut said.
The NBA star-turned Sydney King said the games would be a good curtain raiser for the Australian side leading into the World Cup in China and the 2020 Olympics.
"Team USA last played in Australia in 2002 ... (We) haven't really had a quality national team come out here in decades," he said.
Bogut said the big tournaments coupled with the NBL's growth and the "increased takeover of Aussies in the NBA" would be "massive" for Australian basketball.
"To have that done by basketball Australia and the NBL is absolutely huge and we can hopefully build that into a TV deal for the NBL," he said.
