Teen charged after Sydney gun robbery

A teenager has been charged after allegedly robbing a service station with a rifle and sparking a manhunt with heavily armed officers.

A teenager who allegedly robbed a Sydney service station at gunpoint has been arrested by heavily armed police.

The 19-year-old was allegedly captured on CCTV walking into a Campbelltown service station at 9.20am on Monday.

Wearing high-vis workwear and armed with a rifle, he threatened a female staff member before stealing cash and fleeing the store, police allege.

Local police along with the Public Order Riot Squad, dog squad and PolAir pursued the man to the rear of a nearby home where he was arrested.

He has been charged with armed robbery and was refused bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court on June 27.

The rifle will be forensically examined.
