Teen charged over mum, baby assault in NSW

An 18-year-old man has been charged after allegedly breaking into a Wagga Wagga home, sexually assaulting a young mum and also assaulting her baby girl.

A teenager is accused of forcing his way into a home in the NSW Riverina, raping a young mother and assaulting her eight-month-old baby girl.

Police arrested an 18-year-old on Saturday after raiding a unit in Wagga Wagga, following the Friday afternoon attack.

It's alleged he broke into the 29-year-old woman's apartment about 4.40pm and sexually assaulted her.

The baby was also assaulted, police say.

The teen has been charged with several offences, including aggravated sexual assault and choking.

He was refused bail and will face Wagga Wagga Local Court on Wednesday.
