Teen critical, man dead after Vic crash

A man is dead, a teen has critical injuries and a truck driver is presumed dead after a fiery smash on a highway in regional Victoria.

A South Australian teenager is fighting for life, a man is dead and a truck driver is missing after a fiery crash in Victoria.

A semi-trailer and four-wheel drive collided near Hamilton on Tuesday morning, killing the 26-year-old male driver of the 4WD and leaving his teenage passenger trapped.

The 17-year-old boy was cut from the wreckage and airlifted to a Melbourne hospital with critical head injuries.

Both men in the 4WD were from SA, police say.

The truck burst into flames on impact and the cabin was fully alight when fire crews arrived.

The truck driver is yet to be located but police suspect he was badly burned and will be found in the charred wreckage after forensic analysis.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the smash and the Glenelg Highway remains closed in both directions while the scene is cleared.
