A quick-thinking 16-year-old boy has used a kitchen knife to overpower a home invader who was brandishing a gun and a samurai sword in the bedroom of his Townsville home.
The teen was sleeping when the man burst into his bedroom at 3.15am on Tuesday, threatening him with a gun and later an ornamental sword to make him search the home for cash, police say.
During the search, the teen grabbed a knife from the kitchen and fought the 24-year-old attacker who was taken to Townsville Hospital with a shoulder injury.
Police say the teen used the kitchen knife in self-defence during a scuffle.
The man is due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
