Teenage kayaker Jessica Fox has pulled off Australia's best ever result in the slalom at an Olympics, winning a silver medal in the women's K1.

Fox qualified eighth-fastest for the final at the London Games, but set a blistering early benchmark with a time of 106.51 seconds.

The 18-year-old then had a nervous wait as other competitors completed the tricky course.

Only Emilie Fer of France was able to better the 18-year-old Sydneysider, with Spain taking bronze.
