Teen Green earns pro golf future in US

Australia's Hannah Green is tied 50th with one round left to play at the LPGA Tour qualifying school final stage.

Australian teenager Hannah Green has secured the chance to launch her pro golf career on the secondary Symetra Tour and has a shot at gaining starts on the LPGA Tour with one round still to play at the final qualifying school.

Green, 19, was the only one of four Australians to survive the fourth round cut in Daytona Beach, Florida on Saturday.

Her even par 72 left her tied 50th at one-over 289 - likely too far back to finish among the top 20 plus ties who will earn full LPGA Tour cards after Sunday's closing round.

But she could easily be among the next 25 plus ties who earn conditional LPGA Tour status which will give them some starts on the main tour.

All 69 players who made the fourth round cut are assured of at least playing on the Symetra Tour.

Green, who turned pro at last month's second qualifying stage, was 16 strokes behind American leader Jaye Marie Green and five shots behind the four players tied for 19th place.

The other Australians - amateur Wanasa Zhou (four over), Rebecca Artis (five over) and Emma de Gro0t (five over) - missed out.

Green was runner-up to world No.1 Lydia Ko in last year's New Zealand Open and was the best-performed local at the Australian Ladies Masters in February this year. She finished 20th in the Australian Open the same month.
