Teen hit by drink-driver on Gold Coast

A man will front court next month for drink driving after allegedly hitting a teenage boy with his car.

A teenage boy has serious injuries after being hit by a car driven by an alleged drink-driver.

The car was travelling on Ferny Avenue in Surfers Paradise on Friday night when it ploughed into the 16-year-old, who police say was standing either on or near the edge of the road.

The boy is in hospital in a serious condition while the 79-year-old driver, from Victoria, will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on March 20 for mid-range drink driving after returning a blood-alcohol test of 0.117 per cent.
