A 16-year-old boy who was allegedly fleeing from WA Police before crashing into another car, killing two people and seriously injuring their son, has been remanded in custody after appearing in court.
Officers tried to stop a car on Saturday night in Warwick, in Perth's northern suburbs, but the teenager allegedly sped away with police aborting the chase due to the way the vehicle was being driven.
Police said the teenager continued to speed before crashing into another car at the intersection of Warwick and Ballantine roads, killing a 66-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman from nearby Kingsley.
The car was being driven by the couple's 25-year-old son, who remains in Royal Perth Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
An 18-year-old woman, who was in the car with the teenager, suffered minor injuries.
The Marangaroo teenager has been charged with a string of offences including two counts of manslaughter, dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm, driving without a licence, failing to stop, failing to report an incident and breaching bail.
He faced Perth Children's Court on Monday and was remanded in custody until his next appearance on September 30.
Police Internal Affairs and Major Crash are investigating the incident.
