Teenage girl mauled by dogs in Qld

A teenager needed surgery to her legs after being savagely attacked by dogs while walking in Cairns.

A 13-year-old girl is recovering in hospital after being savagely mauled by two dogs while walking in Cairns.

The teenager was attacked on Sunday, and required surgery because of serious injuries to her legs. Her own two dogs were also hurt in the attack.

A Cairns Hospital spokeswoman said the girl is still in hospital, and is in a stable condition.

Photos on a GoFundMe page set up to help the girl's family pay for costs involved during her recovery and vet bills showed deep bite marks across both legs above the ankle.

"(The girl) is suffering unimaginable pain and permanent physiological damage," organiser Lisa Eagleton said on the page.
