A 14-year-old girl is in hospital with severe facial injuries after she was allegedly assaulted by two other teenage girls in Sydney's south.

Two 15-year-old girls have been charged with assaulting another teenage girl, who was left with a fractured eye socket and cheek.

Police say the 14-year-old alleged victim was on Friday walking with her friend along the Grand Parade in Brighton-Le-Sands, in Sydney's south, before they were confronted by two 15-year-old girls.

Police allege the 14-year-old was punched and kneed to the head, leaving her with a fractured eye socket and cheek.

She was taken to St George Hospital, where she underwent surgery.

The two 15-year-olds were on Saturday charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm and were granted bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court on March 18.
