Teenager arrested over fire truck joyride

An intoxicated teenager has stolen a 14-tonne fire engine and activated the emergency lights before eventually pulled over in the Blue Mountains outside Sydney.

Police say the 16-year-old boy broke into a fire station at Lithgow and stole the fire truck at a quarter to midnight last night.

He was pulled over by police a short time later and ordered to undertake a roadside breath test which returned a positive reading of 0.045.
