Two 14-year-olds have been charged with starting a fire that threatened homes in northern NSW.
Emergency services were called to scrubland on the western side of the Macintyre River at Inverell about midday (AEDT) on Sunday, responding to reports of a fire.
The fire came within 10 metres of homes in Davey and May streets and burnt about five hectares before Fire and Rescue NSW officers were able to extinguish it.
Police allege a boy and girl, both 14, started the blaze.
They have been charged with causing or setting fire to property, and granted conditional bail to appear before the children's court on December 5.
