Teens in SA drinking and using drugs less

Drinking and drug use among South Australian young people has dropped over the past few years, the state government says.

Teenagers in South Australia are drinking alcohol and using illicit drugs less often than they did a few years ago, the state government says.

Newly released data shows the number of SA students aged 12 to 17 who drank alcohol in the past week dropped from 15 per cent in 2011 to 10.4 per cent in 2014.

The portion of people aged 14 to 29 who reported using illicit drugs in the past year also dropped from 26 per cent in 2010 to 24.7 in 2013.
