Aussie internet users are hoping today's unveiling of new 4G wireless by Telstra will mean an end to snail-speed downloads.
Telstra now boasts the country's fastest mobile broadband network with competitors set to follow next year.
It says the new service would complement not compete with the National Broadband Network - the rollout of which may still yet be delayed.
But while it is hoped the new technology could boost download speeds by 10 times current services, there are limits.

For now it's only dongles or modems which have only been released - handsets are to come next year.
And its reach is limited to a three kilometre radius from the general post office of 30 regional areas - and five kilometres from capital cities CBDs.
