While the US may have shivered through a record cold snap, parts of Western Australia are experiencing a heatwave with temperatures nudging 49 degrees.
The town of Onslow in the north west of the state has recorded two days where temperatures broke the 48 degree mark.
Ryan Emery spoke to the town's maintenance supervisor Steve Hardy about the heat and what it's like to work outdoors in such extremes.
