Tennis in his blood: Meet the Australian prodigy bound for Paris

Jeremy Jin will represent Australia at a Future Tennis Aces tournament in Paris. But his Chinese-born parents are torn about which country he should represent if his meteoric rise continues.

Jeremy Jin was destined for tennis success.

His mother Lucy was a former professional player in her native China, and his father Michael met Lucy while playing tennis in Sydney.

Next month Jeremy will take on top players from around the world at a tournament at Roland Garros during the French Open tennis tournament.

It's an experience he can't wait for.

"Yeah I'd love to win it," he said. "I know its going to be tough to win but I'd love to do well and have a few good results."

His mother is good friends with China's first-ever Grand Slam Champion, Li Na, and Jeremy has already met the two-time Major winner on a holiday to China when he was 5 years old.

His current hero though is Japanese star Kei Nishikori.

"I do wish to become a pro like him," Jeremy said. "He's been so close to winning Grand Slams. It would be fun."

The rise of Asian players on the circuit looks assured, with former Australia Davis Cup captain Wally Masur convinced China will one day dominate the sport.

"It's coming, it will come because it's an Olympic sport and they're throwing a lot of resources at it," he said.

Jeremy could one day face a choice whether to represent the nation of his birth or his parents' homeland.

His feet are in the Australian camp for now at least. His mother is hoping he'll choose China, his father Australia, but ultimately they'll let Jeremy decide.
