A teenager accused of aiding the fatal shooting of NSW police accountant Curtis Cheng has been brainwashed while associating with the wrong crowd, his father says.

Izat Alou says he has taught his son Raban Alou good values and the importance of helping others, but somebody has got to the 18-year-old.

The teenager, who is accused of aiding and abetting the fatal shooting of Mr Cheng two weeks ago, will remain in custody after he made no bid for bail at Central Local Court on Friday.

"I teach him a lot of good things, but if your son doesn't listen to you, what are you going to do?" the father, from Wentworthville in Sydney's west, told AAP on Friday.

"Somebody brainwashed him."

Mr Alou said people were trying to use his son as a pawn in a bigger game.

He said lives were being wasted while those responsible escaped.

"Who is behind this thing? My son, if he goes to jail, he goes for nothing," Mr Alou said.

"My son is born here, even I don't pray and I'm not a practising Muslim.

"We hate these bloody ISIS."

Raban Alou's matter will return to court on December 16.

The 18-year-old Wentworthville man had been on remand since counter-terrorism raids in Sydney's west last week following the terror shooting outside police headquarters in Parramatta on October 2.
