Australians are part of the unfolding story around the deadly terrorist attacks in Paris on Black Friday.

HOW THE PARIS ATTACKS ARE PLAYING OUT FOR AUSTRALIANS

* Mum Lisa and uncle Michael arrived in Paris overnight and were taken to see Emma in hospital.

* Ambassador says the 19-year-old's recovering well after being shot in the hip at the Bataclan theatre.

* Her uncle says there'll be a statement "once we've had a chat to Emma".

SYRIA OPERATIONS

* Julie Bishop says Australia would "consider a request" for boots on the ground in US-led coalition actions against IS.

* The federal government says the first Syrian refugee family to arrive in Australia, due in Perth on Tuesday, has been "hand-picked" and thoroughly screened.

* Tony Abbott advocates deployment of special forces on the ground in Syria and Iraq.

WREATH LAYING

* Federal frontbencher Josh Frydenberg lays wreath near Bataclan where most of the 129 victims died.

SECURITY RESPONSE

* NSW Police institutes "shoot first" terrorist response policy, upgrading from previous "contain and negotiate" stance.

* Australia's security alert level remains at "High".

HACKERS 'WAR'

* Hacker group Anonymous, which has members in Australia, declares cyber war on IS saying they're the "better hackers".

TRAVEL WARNING

* Australian travellers are being asked to reconsider need to travel to Paris.
