Anti-terrorism police have raided a home Sydney's southwest.

The AFP has confirmed the NSW Joint Counter Terrorism Team is conducting operational activity at a home in Heckenberg.

"This activity is not related to any threat to the community," the AFP said in a statement on Monday.

The AFP said the raid relates to an ongoing investigation.

"It relates to terrorism financing," AFP Commissioner Andrew Colvin said on Monday while speaking at AFP headquarters.

A number of items have been removed from the property on Tantangara Street, according to TV footage.

A neighbour said a woman lives at the home with her young children and mother, but the woman's husband has apparently not lived at the home for several months, the Nine Network reported.
