Terrorist threat worsening: Turnbull

The prime minister says fighting in the Philippines shows the worsening terrorism situation in the region.

Malcolm Turnbull says the threat of Islamist terrorism is worsening in the Asia-Pacific region.

The prime minister, who is in Singapore on Friday for security talks, says fighting in the southern Philippines city of Marawi - where ISIL-trained terrorists are entrenched in several neighbourhoods - is an example of this.

"The threat of Islamist terrorism gets worse in our region," Mr Turnbull said.
