US electric car manufacturer Tesla has issued a recall of charging adapters for its electric cars which could be in danger of melting from overheating.
The company's NEMA 14-30, 10-30, 6-50 adapters are all affected, according to a statement on the company's website, and will be replaced.
US technology websites said that up to 7000 adapters could be affected in the recall.
The California-based company said that two customers had complained in November about charging adapters overheating and that those were the only two incidents that the company knew of "anywhere in the world."
But in online forums the issue has been a topic for some time, with at least one post on a Tesla forum page showing melted power cord plugs dated August 2014.

Only US-based Tesla owners are affected by the recall, the statement said.
