Australia batsman Travis Head's taste of international cricket in the past five months has got him dreaming of higher honours.
The 22-year-old has established himself in Australia's one-day set-up after debuting during the tri-series against South Africa and the West Indies in the Caribbean in June.
Head will line-up for his 11th ODI appearance on Sunday as Australia face the Proteas at St George's Park in Port Elizabeth.
The South Australia captain says he's aiming high over the next few months, hoping a bumper domestic campaign can elevate him into Test selection consideration.
"The pressure's on this Shield season to go and get big runs," the left-hander said.
"That's my goal, stay in the one-day side and hopefully push for the Test team.
"It's a long way away and I've got to make as many runs as possible to get my name there."
In a disappointing overall series for the tourists in South Africa, Head enjoyed a personal milestone in game two at the Wanderers when he scored his maiden ODI half-century.
Even that high was tinged with disappointment though as he fell shortly after passing 50 and he said David Miller's match-winning century in game three at Durban is the kind of knock he needs to aspire towards.
"That's what I should have done in the second game," Head said.
"I was a bit disappointed to get to 50 and not be there at the end or at least try and get as close as possible.
"Batting at six I've got to play two different roles I guess, come in at the end like I did the other night or in the first two games coming in in the middle overs and try to build an innings.
"He (Miller) played it perfectly the other night and I guess that's the template of how the middle or bottom order have to play the game ... I'll just continue to be positive and take the game on."
