Australia Test opener Joe Burns should be recovered in time for the Ashes, if selected, after on-going fatigue forced him to return from county cricket duty in England.
Burns ended his stint with Lancashire last month after being diagnosed with a protracted post-infectious fatigue disorder dating back to a viral infection that hit the 29-year-old in October, 2018.
The Queenslander thanked those who shared messages of support for his recovery via Twitter on Tuesday following the announcement of his official diagnosis.
"Good to get a diagnosis and know what was going on," Burns tweeted.
"Everything is positive and plan to have a bit of rest now before getting back into full training soon."
Burns has played 16 Tests for Australia, scoring four centuries including 180 in his most recent Test against Sri Lanka in Canberra in February.
"We wish Joe the best in his recovery and look forward to helping him make a successful return as soon as possible,'' said Queensland Cricket chief executive Max Walters.
The five-Test Ashes series starts at Edgbaston in Birmingham on August 1.
