The Chicago Tribune reported witnesses initially told police Dominic had landed on the gun, accidentally setting it off, but later changed their stories to implicate Wayman in the incident.

"Investigators interviewed eyewitnesses in the bedroom at the time of this incident and have determined that Wayman is the individual that pointed and discharged the handgun that caused the death of the victim," the Tribune reported the arrest warrant read.

Wayman's bail was set at $505,000, the Tribune reported.

The boy's biological father is reportedly in jail for multiple convictions.
