Thai passenger van crash leaves 11 dead

A passenger van has overturned and caught fire on a highway in Thailand, killing 11 people inside, news reports say.

Eleven people have been killed and four others injured after a Bangkok-bound passenger van flipped over and burst into flames, Thai news reports say.

Rescue officials at the scene of the accident in Chonburi province, 80 kilometres south-east of Bangkok, were quoted by The Nation as saying the driver of the van lost control of the vehicle after a tyre burst on Friday night.

They said only four people were able to escape from the overturned van before it was engulfed by fire, killing the 11 trapped in the vehicle.
