Australian of the Year 2015, Rosie Batty, has been honoured on social media as her time as the current Australian of The Year comes to an end.

The mother and activist touched the hearts of several women across the country with her book 'A Mother's Story', as well as her ongoing campaigning for better services for abuse victims.

The book recounts Batty's experiences with her abusive ex-husband, who ended up murdering their 11-year-old son, Luke.

The hashtag #ThankYouRosieBatty is trending online, sending warm wishes to a woman who encouraged several others to stand up against domestic violence.
