The security guarded mural only for the Insta-famous

Is the mural in Los Angeles only accessible to those famous on Instagram a great injustice or a clever marketing ploy?

A mural in Los Angeles is being blocked off to those not deemed famous enough on social media.

The mural, found near the Sunset Strip in central LA, depicts a pair of wings for people to pose in front of with the tag-line "City of Angels".

But while quirky graffiti is a favourite for millennials to photograph and share on social media, this public art comes with a condition.

A person needs to have to have at least 20 thousand followers or a verified account on social media to be considered worthy enough.

LA-based writer Justin Caffier alerted the Twitter-sphere to the conditions for visiting the mural.
And many on the social media platform were outraged.
But a few Twitter users were quick to spot the hidden message.
The fine print at the bottom of the sign encourages people to follow an account called "like and subscribe" on both Twitter and Instagram.

Both accounts promise to go live on July 9.

Ironically, these accounts would not even be able to take a picture in front of their own mural due to their lack of followers.
