The Senate is working again: Brandis

Attorney General George Brandis says the success of the past fortnight getting bills through parliament shows the Senate is working again.

Attorney General George Brandis says the Senate is working again despite the Turnbull government having to deal with several distractions.

In the final sitting fortnight of the year, 19 bills have passed in the Senate, including the citizenship bill with the support of Labor and the multinational tax bill with the support of the Greens.

"The real political outcome of the last fortnight, the real story, is that the Senate is working again," Senator Brandis told the Ten Network on Sunday.
