PROTOTYPE

* designed by Melbourne startup ARI Labs

* holds packages of up to 1.2kg

* short flights of 15-20 minutes (approximately 15km) at altitude of 105 metres.

SAFETY

* regulator controls drone use and has approved Australia Post's first trial

* drone has an HD camera and a siren, parachute and lights

* customers opt-in for delivery, so drones won't fly over people sunbaking in backyards
