The NSW Blues side has a history of victories at ANZ Stadium, where they will clash with the Maroons on Wednesday night for the first State of Origin match for 2015.
ANZ Stadium (Stadium Australia) in Sydney has hosted 22 State of Origin matches since 1999, and the Blues have won 15 of those games. The Maroons have won six there and one game was a draw.
The second match this year will be at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, where the decades-old rivals have met just three times prior.
The last game in this year’s annual rugby league state-on-state battle is at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane (traditionally Lang Park), which has been a bruising place for the Blues throughout the history of State of Origin.
From 50 games played at Suncorp, the Maroons have won 31.
The Blues have an advantage of playing at home in Wednesday’s opening match, with the median Blues’ score for a home game at 15 points, compared to the median Maroons' home game score of 16 points.
The Maroons also score more points in away games, with a median away game score of 14 compared to the Blues' median score of 12 for away games.
The annual Origin contest has a reputation for fast and furious competition.
Since the games started in 1980, the median difference in points each team scores each game has been 8 points.
That’s two tries and no conversions.
The series also has a reputation for drawing big crowds.
Since 1980, 4.8 million spectators have attended 101 games, with 47,000 spectators at the average game (excluding promotional games played interstate and overseas).
