Thermomix responds to 'explosion' incident

Thermomix says it has tried to contact a Perth woman who received serious burns when her kitchen appliance malfunctioned.

Kitchen appliance giant Thermomix has tried to reassure customers that its food processing equipment is safe despite Perth mother Danika Joneswoman suffering serious burns when her model "exploded" while cooking.

Thermomix said in a statement that it was aware of the incident and had repeatedly tried to contact the Halls Head woman, who reportedly suffered second degree burns to her body when the appliance malfunctioned and sprayed hot pasta sauce over her body.

"It is important that the appliance involved is made available for diagnosis ... the customer in this instance has so far declined to do this," the statement read.

Thermomix was quick to clarify there had never been a product recall for the TM31 model in question, but as a precaution, the seal on the TM31 should be replaced every two years.

"We care about our customers, and their safety is our highest priority," the Thermomix statement read.
