Australia will play Scotland in the quarter-finals of the Rugby World Cup on October 19.

The Wallabies have secured top spot in Group A with a 15 points to 6 win over Wales in London.

No tries were scored in the match, which saw a remarkable Australian defensive effort in the second half, when they were able to keep Wales at bay despite being two players short for part of the game, after Will Genia and Dean Mumm were both yellow carded.
Australian coach Michael Cheika said he felt great pride in his side in this game.

"I'm not shy to say that I was very proud of the lads because that's a very difficult situation, considering the context of the game also and I was very proud of their resilience there and their intent to go and do what they did."

Wallaby great Mark Ella told SBS World News the Wallabies defence was brilliant.

"They were superb - and in the second-half especially [to have] two players off the field of play. They just defended like their lives depended on it," he said.

He said the Wallabies' next opponent, Scotland, could prove formidable.

"Scotland are going to be very, very difficult [to go up against]. They played very well.
"But we've got a week's rest and Israel Folau looks like he has injured his ankle again. I think come a week, some of those players will obviously recover. Hopefully none of them are too seriously injured."

As for Australia's chances in winning the Cup, Ella said the Wallabies now have a great shot.

"We haven't heard a lot of New Zealand, South Africa or even France.

"I think everyone is starting to come back to the Aussies, you know the way they're playing. It was a pretty grinding win tonight. I think the Wallabies are getting on everybody's mind."
