A koala has been snapped guzzling water on the side of the road in Adelaide, as extreme heat sweeps through parts of South Australia.

The video was filmed by Paul Jansen, who was driving through Hope Valley over the weekend when he saw the furry fellow drinking from the runoff.
“How much more can he take?” Mr Jansen asked as he filmed the marsupial continue to lap up the rainwater.

Mr Jansen told the ABC the koala was drinking for more than 15 minutes.

The adorable clip was uploaded onto Mr Jansen’s Facebook page.

Adelaide recorded its hottest ever run of days in December over the weekend, after the mercury hit 40 degrees Celsisus for the fourth consecutive day on Saturday.
