Paralympic snowboarder Damien Thomlinson has won the Sir Roden Cutler award, which recognises the accomplishments of disabled athletes
Thomlinson received the award at NSW Parliament House on Thursday night in Sydney for his sporting achievements and determination to inspire people with disabilities to follow their sporting dreams.
He claimed the award as one five nominees alongside wheelchair track and field star Madison Derozario, para boarder-cross snowboarder Joany Badenhorst, para canoeist Curtis McGrath and deaf athlete and distance runner Cristine Suffolk.
Thomlinson, who has competed at two Invictus Games and the Paralympics, had both of his legs amputated after being injured by an explosion while serving with the Australian armed forces in Afghanistan in April 2009.
Thomlinson, who is now a motivational speaker and author, also received a $20,000 grant for the sporting charity of his choice.
