New York's famous Fifth Avenue got all greened up as thousands of Irish gathered along the famous street in the biggest and one of the oldest parades in the world to celebrate St Patrick's Day.
The parade was attended by Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar and his partner Matthew Barrett.
From the early hours of the morning, the Irish gathered along Fifth Avenue to celebrate their culture and contributions to this city, despite the freezing weather.
Dressed in green with their faces painted the same colour, the Irish and their descendants also proudly displayed the three-leaf shamrock, a national symbol that St Patrick is said to have used to explain the Holy Trinity.
Regiment 69 of the state's National Guard, once known as the Irish Brigade, led the parade in which New York Governor Andrew Cuomo marched along with Mayor Bill de Blasio and Police Chief James O'Neill.
