More than $20 million worth of outdoor cannabis crops have been seized in northern NSW during an annual raid.
Crops in Byron Bay, Coffs Harbour, Richmond and the Manning Great Lakes area have been targeted since last year as part of the Cannabis Eradication Program, with police seizing more than 10,000 plants.
"That's $20 million that won't be boosting the profits of drug dealers and thousands of cannabis plants that won't be sold in the community," Drug Squad Commander Detective Superintendent Tony Cooke said on Monday.
Six people are expected to face court for cannabis cultivation offences, with investigations continuing into other individuals.
In a separate incident in the state's southwest, a man was allegedly caught transporting 13kg of cannabis.
The 43-year-old South Australian was stopped in his ute on the Sturt Highway at Hay about 1.40pm on Sunday, police say.
Nearly 30 shopping bags full of cannabis were found in a water tank in the ute.
The man was charged with drug possession and refused bail ahead of an expected appearance at Deniliquin Local Court on Monday.
