Three Aussies in South Africa's T20 draft

South Africa's new Twenty20 competition has drawn a predictably lukewarm response from Australian players.

The T20 Global League player draft will be held in Cape Town on Sunday.

Eoin Morgan, Kevin Pietersen, Chris Gayle, Brendon McCullum and Lasith Malinga are some of the marquee internationals to be allocated to one of eight franchises.

There were only three Australians included in Wednesday's updated list of foreign players eligible for the draft.

Former Test paceman Ben Hilfenhaus, Queensland batsman Nathan Reardon and naturalised spinner Johan Botha have made themselves available.

The tournament is expected to run from early November until December 16, meaning it overlaps with Australia's domestic season and the Ashes.

Hilfenhaus announced his first-class retirement 18 months ago.

Reardon, who played two T20s for Australia, was left off Queensland's contract list for this summer.

Botha briefly captained South Africa's T20 and one-day sides before moving to Australia. He has been a mainstay at Sydney Sixers in recent Big Bash League seasons.

West Indies veteran Shivnarine Chanderpaul and former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq, who are both 43, are among the old hands keen for a hit in South Africa's new league.
