Three dead in Brisbane road crash

Three people are dead after a teenage driver crashed into two cars on Brisbane's southside.

Three people including a teenage driver have been killed in a head-on crash on Brisbane's southside.

An 18-year-old was behind the wheel of a Holden Commodore that crossed onto the wrong side of Ipswich Road in Moorooka on Sunday night, killing another driver and passenger.

Witnesses have told police the car was being driven erratically and at speed before the crash about 8pm.

Paramedics tried to save both drivers and the passenger, but they died at the scene.

The other victims were a woman, 33, who was driving the second car and a 41-year-old man.

The teenage driver had hit another vehicle moments before the fatal collision.

Phoebe Kendall and Lisa Jennings were in that car and say they are lucky to be alive.

"He hit the back of us and we spun," Ms Kendall told The Courier-Mail.

Ms Jennings said they jumped out of their damaged car and tried to help those involved in the subsequent crash.

"But we could see they didn't make it ... The ambo arrived and looked in with the torch but we could see there was nothing they could do," Ms Jennings told the paper.

Police are appealing for more witnesses and want to hear from anyone who might have footage of the crash, or the moments leading up to it.
