A motorcyclist is the third person to die on Victorian roads in separate crashes on Sunday.

The unidentified male rider and a right-turning car collided at Koo Wee Rup, southeast of Melbourne, shortly before 5pm, police said.

The driver, an 83-year-old man, and his female passenger, both from nearby Lang Lang, were taken to Dandenong Hospital with minor injuries.

Police are investigating, and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Earlier, a 45-year-old man died at the scene after his ute rolled down an embankment at Nariel Valley, in the alpine region of northeast Victoria, about 7.30am.

Just after 2am, a young woman died in a three-car collision at Williams Landing, in Melbourne's southwest.

A second driver suffered serious injuries.

The deaths take Victoria's road toll to five, one more than at the same time last year.
