Three more WA cases of meningococcal

Three adults are recovering in hospital in Western Australia after being diagnosed with meningococcal disease, the Health Department says.

One young adult and two elderly people are recovering in hospital in Western Australia after being diagnosed with the life-threatening meningococcal disease, but the cases are not linked.

Two cases had serogroup B disease and one case had serogroup W, the WA Health Department said on Thursday.

There have been 25 cases of meningococcal disease so far this year, including 13 serogroup W, four Y, six B, and one C infection, plus a case where the type could not be determined.
