Thunder extend Adams' NBA contract

The Oklahoma City Thunder have exercised their option to keep New Zealand centre Steven Adams on their books for a fourth NBA season.

New Zealand centre Steven Adams will play at least two more seasons for the Oklahoma City Thunder after the NBA club exercised their option to extend his stay.

Thunder management announced Adams, 22, and United States guard Andre Roberson would both see out the full length of their initial contracts, which includes the 2016-17 season.

Adams begins his third season at Oklahoma City next week, having shown strong form during their just-completed pre-season campaign.

In two seasons he has played 151 games, starting 87 of them. He averages 5.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in 19.7 minutes per game.
