Reece Conca is the first confirmed AFL free agency move, leaving Richmond and returning to his native WA to join Fremantle.
The free agency period opened on Friday morning and the rebuilding Dockers soon announced Conca is joining them on a three-year deal.
The 26-year-old utility became an unrestricted free agent after eight seasons and 104 games with the Tigers.
Conca only played six senior games last season because of injury, meaning he missed out on being in the Tigers' drought-breaking premiership side.
He played 18 games this year, overcoming a dislocated ankle in round 15 to return in time for Richmond's two finals.
Conca is the latest player to return to WA and join the Dockers, following Joel Hamling, Bradley Hill and Nathan Wilson.
Richmond recruited Conca with pick No.6 in the 2010 draft.
"He's already shown what he's capable of at a top-four club in Richmond and we're very positive that he will become a long-term player at Fremantle and help drive our young midfield," said Dockers chief executive Steve Rosich.
"Reece is a fine young man who will not only help us grow on-field but contribute to the development of our young and emerging players."
