The grounding of Tiger Airways Australia will cost the airline $1.5 million a week, the airline's parent company says.

The Singapore Airlines low-cost offshoot was grounded for a week on Saturday, by order of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) over safety breaches.

It is the first time CASA has grounded an entire airline.

On Sunday, Tiger Airways Holdings Limited, based in Singapore, issued a statement saying it was focused on resuming operations in Australia as soon as possible.

The company estimated the suspension would cost the airline S$2 million ($A1,512 421) a week.

"Having mitigated immediate passenger disruption to the best of its ability, the next priority for Tiger Airways Australia is to work with CASA to fully address their concerns," the statement read.

Group president and CEO Tony Davis has been instructed to focus on "assisting Tiger Airways Australia to resume operations as soon as possible."

Mr Chin Yau Seng has been appointed an additional executive director from July 4.

He was previously divisional vice president, cabin crew operations, Singapore Airlines.

Tiger Airway's Singapore services are not affected by the suspension and continue to operate normally.

"The company reassures its customers that safety has been and will continue to be of paramount importance," the statement said.
