Budget airline Tigerair Australia has launched a new product to allow customers to change their flight at short notice - for a fee.
Customers who buy the MoveMe option can change their flight for another on the same day, should they wish to catch an earlier flight or if they have missed their original flight.
The $12 option is similar to so-called "flexi fares" offered by other airlines - including Qantas and Tigerair's parent company, Virgin Australia - which are usually more expensive but offer greater flexibility to change flights.
MoveMe can be bought during online booking or 72 hours prior to a flight but customers will have to read the fine print.
Those who want to catch an earlier flight cannot check in any earlier than two hours before their new departure time, and no later than 45 minutes before departure.
Customers running late have until 15 minutes after their booked flight leaves to approach the check-in counter and move to the next available flight.
Tigerair operates around 420 flights a week, the bulk of which are domestic, with around 20 international flights.
