Wests Tigers fullback Justin Hunt is set to escape a suspension for his spectacular coat-hanger tackle on Canterbury playmaker Moses Mbye.

Hunt was given a grade two careless high tackle charge by the NRL match review committee on Monday but he can avoid a one-match ban with an early guilty plea.

Hunt felled Mbye when he hung his arm out and caught him high and late during the Bulldogs' big win at ANZ Stadium on Sunday, prompting calls for him to be sent off.

In other judiciary news, St George Illawarra forward Joel Thompson has taken the early guilty plea on a grade one high tackle for his shot on Canberra pivot Blake Austin.

Thompson will sit out the Dragons' round 11 fixture against South Sydney at ANZ Stadium on Thursday.
